Backups: how never to lose your book
Why you should back up your debt book, how to do it in haeifin with a password, where to keep the file, and how to restore it on a new phone.
Your book is on your phone and works offline, which is great. But if the phone is lost or breaks, the book goes with it, unless you have a backup.
How to back up in haeifin
- Open “Your page” (the circle at the top) → “Backup”.
- If you like, turn on “Protect the backup with a password”.
- Tap “Back up now”.
The backup is one file with the whole book: accounts, entries, currencies and photos.
Where to keep it?
Off the phone: Google Drive, your email, or a message to yourself on WhatsApp. What matters is that it isn’t lost along with the phone.
The password
With a password, the backup is encrypted (AES-256) and only you can open it, not even us. So if you forget it, there is no way to get it back. Choose a password you’ll remember, or write it down somewhere safe.
How often?
At least once a week, and before any big change: a new phone, an update, or a factory reset.
Restoring
On the new phone: install the app → “Your page” → “Backup” → “Restore” → “Choose a backup file”. Restoring never deletes anything already there.
